Major General the Hon Justice Brereton AM RFD is an Army Reservist who holds the rank of Major General. He has served as Second-in-Command Sydney University Regiment (1994-6), Commanding Officer 4th/3rd Battalion, the Royal New South Wales Regiment (1997-99), Chief of Staff 5th Brigade (2004-5), Assistant Chief of Staff Land Headquarters (2006-7), and Commander 5th Brigade (2008-10). From 2011 to 2013 he was Head of Cadet, Reserve and Employer Support Division. He holds honorary appointments as Colonel Commandant of the Royal NSW Regiment and the University of NSW Regiment. He sat as a member of the Defence Force Discipline Appeals Tribunal and acted as Assistant Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force. Justice Brereton was honoured with membership of the Order of Australia (Military Division) in 2010 and received the Reserve Force Decoration in 1995.

Dr Tom Lewis OAM is a former naval officer and author or co-author of 18 books, all of which are works of military history except for one. He was the editor of Headmark, the Journal of the Australian Naval Institute from 2005 until 2016. His most recent works are: Honour Denied -Teddy Sheean, A Tasmanian Hero, The Empire Strikes South, Darwin Bombed! A Young Person’s Guide to the Japanese attacks of 19 February 1942, Atomic Salvation, and Attack on Sydney – the 1942 Submarine Raid: an 80-year Commemoration Perspective. In 2003, Tom Lewis was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the Royal Australian Navy, particularly in the promotion of Australian naval history.

Dr David W. Cameron graduated from the University of Sydney in Prehistoric Archaeology in 1989 and completed his PhD in Palaeoanthropology at the School of Archaeology, ANU in 1995. David has written several books on primate evolutionary biology and over 15 books on Australian military history as well as over 70 internationally peer reviewed papers for various academic journals and book chapters. His latest military history books include The Battles for Kokoda Plateau: Three weeks of hell, The Battle for Isurava: Fighting in the clouds of the Owen Stanley 1942, Saving Port Moresby: Fighting at the end of the Kokoda Track and Gona’s Gone! The Battle for the Beachhead New Guinea.

Michael C. Madden is an author, photographer and medal mounter. He is the founder and host of the podcast, Australia Remembers. Michael has written four novels and two major history books. In recognition of his work on The Victoria Cross – Australia Remembers, Michael was made a patron and Life Member of the Victoria Cross Trust in the UK. He was also made an honorary life member of the United States Army Small Ships Association. Michael’s latest military history book is Dasher: The Kevin Wheatley VC Story.
