The Military History Society of New South Wales Incorporated presents

Mr. Colin Kay DCM
Society Member
on The Charge of the Light Brigade, 1854
woodvile

Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
“Forward, the Light Brigade!
“Charge for the guns!” he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

These immortal words of Lord Tennyson came to epitomize the singular event that characterised the Crimean War. Mr. Kay will describe the basic folly of the day when confusion raged because of faulty command procedures and personal rivalries on that lethal battlefield.
