The Military History Society of New South Wales Incorporated presents
This half day seminar will focus on the personalities (in London and in theatre) with a focus on GHQ and how it worked together and with the Navy (or did not work together) in planning (strategically and operationally) the events of April 1915. There will also be a lecture on the landings at Gallipoli by the ANZAC by Brigadier Philip Carey AM, RFD, ED (Retd), followed by a panel discussion featuring Dr Crawley & members of the Military History Society of NSW with expertise on WWI.
Dr Rhys Crawley is a Research Fellow with the Strategic & Defence Studies Centre ANU. Dr Crawley has been the recipient of several research scholarships, and has given talks on aspects of his research on the Gallipoli campaign at the University of Birmingham, the Imperial War Museum, the Australian War Memorial, and the Istanbul Medeniyet University. He is the author of Climax at Gallipoli: The failure of the August Offensive (University of Oklahoma Press). He researches, teaches, and writes on aspects of Australian military, logistic, security, and intelligence history.
