The Military History Society of New South Wales Incorporated presents
49th Annual General Meeting and Lecture
This is the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Military History Society of New South Wales. To commemorate this event the Patron of the Society, Major General the Honourable Justice Paul Brereton AM RFD will be giving a lecture. The lecture title is:
“Lieutenant General James Gordon Legge CB, CMG, MA, LLB – with some reflections on the history of the Society.”
“The story of Lieutenant-General James Gordon Legge, CB, CMG, MA, LLB, is one of a controversial soldier, despised by some and admired by others, who was at the heart of the Australian Army in its first two decades following federation. He was twice Chief of the General Staff, commanded the 1st Division at Gallipoli following the death of Bridges, and then raised and trained the 2nd Division, which he commanded at Gallipoli in the latter part of the campaign, and then on the Western Front, including at Pozieres.”
Please note that the Annual General Meeting will be held starting at 1:30 PM and doors will be closed to those who are not current financial members, life members or fee exempt members until the AGM is concluded.
Due to catering limitations in the new environment it will not be possible to supply tea and coffee. However there are a number of cafés in the vicinity, so please avail yourself of refreshments before attending the meeting.
